ABOUT US
Our story began in the 1940s. It was a time when listening to gramophone records, following the news from agencies and going to Europe for education were fashionable...
Despite the difficult conditions of the period, our founder Yakup Çetinalp loved toys so much that he changed the sector he was working in and stepped into the toy world. It's a good thing he did, see how things developed afterwards...
When Yakup Çetinalp started producing tin soldiers, he was using hand-printed machines, his total production area was limited to 40 m² and the toy industry in Türkiye was almost non-existent. His son Hasan Faruk Çetinalp joined his father at the age of six and together they traveled around Anatolia and sold the tin soldiers they produced in this small workshop.
Moreover, marketing techniques had not yet been invented and agencies capable of promoting them were decades away from being established.
In time, the lead soldiers were replaced by plastic soldiers. Father and son used their creativity and implemented perhaps the first raffle marketing method in the industry, wrapping the toy soldiers in 'intention' papers and selling toys while giving people the excitement of winning a gift. They put 260 carefully wrapped lead soldiers in a large raffle bag. 30 of these soldiers had surprise gifts. The child who randomly drew a package from the bag would win the toy corresponding to the number on the package. Imagine this was done in the 1940s...
A true marketing success!
They say that when a person loves their job, they will definitely get something in return. The excitement and determination of the father and son did not go unrewarded; while many companies were relegated to the dusty shelves of history, Pilsan grew day by day. It grew, but without losing the child inside…
Times have changed, gramophone records have given way to digital, news is now followed on social media rather than agencies. Of course, we have also changed, developed and caught up with the times. Today, under the leadership of Hasan Faruk Çetinalp, we are producing in an indoor area of 85,000 m² with state-of-the-art machinery.
As we said at the beginning, Hasan Faruk Çetinalp never lost his childhood excitement and made Pilsan the most established toy manufacturer in Türkiye.
Our journey that started with tin soldiers continues with hundreds of products that appeal to children of all ages. Only children? We have a toy for everyone who has not lost the child inside, no matter how old they are.
The Northern Castle, which became a legend of the period, battery-powered cars that almost every child dreams of, or a cute slide...
Our story did not end here; we outgrew the 40m² workshop in Silahtar, Istanbul, and first expanded to Türkiye and then to the world. Who knows, maybe the same Pilsan toy that your child never puts down is the best playmate of another child on the other side of the world…
Of course, our journey did not end here; we still work with the same excitement and our goal is to continue to leave a beautiful mark on your lives by producing toys that no one else has made.
We are very pleased to see you with us on this enjoyable path.
